Physical Geography of Yellowknife

The Great Slave Lake
Yellowknife is located on the shore of the Great Slave Lake, which provides a great view to the community. Also, this urban civilization sits on top of the Canadian Shield, a group of igneous rocks eroded by rain and relocated by the movement of glaciers. Today, you will be able to find the oldest rocks created when this planet was young, and valuable treasures for all you rock-lovers out there, such as gold, silver, tungsten, copper, and diamonds. The soil in Yellowknife might give you the "cold shoulder" when you try to plant seeds into the icy ground. However, if you find the right place and time, you will be able to grow a variety of crops, such as potato, carrot, lettuce, beat, pea, broccoli, bean, Swiss chard, dill, cabbage, and turnip. Yellowknife has an abundant amount of birch and spruce, which is great for bird watching for ptarmigans, robins, or other magnificent bird of preys.
